Dickson Charles Ngasa — known in the electronic sonic space as Dixomium — didn't grow up in a multi-million-dollar recording studio. He grew up around one that had already closed. His father had been a club DJ and music lover in Shinyanga. Even after stepping away from clubs to master electronics engineering and become one of MultiChoice DSTV's earliest certified installers in Tanzania, the abandoned turntables and mixers stayed behind in the house.
As a young boy, Dickson would sneak into the spare room, running his fingers across the sliders and knobs of silent turntables. On an ancient CRT-tube PC, he loaded an early copy of Virtual DJ with no actual audio files — just moving waveform skins across the screen, learning beat-matching entirely by imagination and visual instinct.
In Standard 6, his father bought him an entry-level keyboard. With no tutor or sheet music, he trained his ear: hearing a melody on the radio once, tracking it down key-by-key until the keyboard eventually wore out. By Standard 7, Dickson was already smuggling desktop PC towers and desktop subwoofers into school classrooms during lunch breaks, organizing underground disco sessions for his classmates when the teachers weren't looking.
The revelation came in Secondary School when tracks like Major Lazer & DJ Snake's “Lean On”, Alan Walker's “Faded”, and later Avicii's “Taste the Feeling” revealed the power of global electronic dance music. Sitting near a speaker one afternoon, Dickson had a vivid vision: standing on a stadium pitch before tens of thousands of people, unifying a sea of humans through drops, synths, and bass.
By 2022, while studying at Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST), Dickson fired up FL Studio and launched the Dixomium project. Since then, he has released over 46 official remixes and original productions, amassing over 33,300+ plays on Audiomack and 74,500+ views on YouTube — turning East African classics into high-energy EDM, progressive house, and Amapiano bangers that reverberate worldwide.
